French cravings

Publié par Marie

Whenever a trip to City Super or Three sixty is not enough anymore for your French cravings (or way too expensive)and no friends or family are coming to see you soon with the special French packet, here are the places I would recommend you to try to find the products you were looking for.

Home Flavour

G/F, 18 Possession Street, Sheung Wan

11am to 21.30pm

My favorite place to head at lunch time! Beside the delicious home made sausages for your BBQ, the bread or the quiches, you will find buckwheat flour for your “galette”, baking chocolate, plenty of cheeses, several syrups and typical French sauces… The owner is very friendly and it is the cheapest place I have found for French products so far in Hong Kong. They also deliver at home your order if needed. Are you really still reading this page?

Chez Patrick Deli

G/F, 3 Start Street, Wanchai

Looking for some real cold cuts or sausages? Here is the place to go. From seafood to meat, terrines and foie gras, you will be able to find whatever you were looking for. You can also order on their website because in front of their counter, you will want to buy everything… you have been warned!

Monsieur Chatte

G/F, 121 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan

First you need to see this retro shop! After you will be able to buy your lunch if you are working around, taste their “canneles” or “madeleines” and spend your money wisely. Their homemade tarts and desserts are also perfect if you have a dinner and no time to bake.

Stan Café L’estafette

Stanley Plaza, Shop 505, 5/F, Carmel Road, Stanley

It is the prettier cheese display in Hong Kong in my opinion! If you live in Stanley or around the South of HK Island, this shop will soon become your second home. It will be hard to leave without anything in your hands…

French shops are taking HK by storm these days and you will find plenty of them everywhere you go. Not in the mood for cooking or baking, pay a visit to these stores for guilt-free French treats!

La Rotisserie

G/F, 255 Queen’s Road, Sheung Wan

You could find this shop with your eyes closed only by the delicious odor around it. Friends coming tonight, no time to cook and any oven in your apartment, stop at their shop and you will be leaving with a grilled chicken cooked in the traditional French style.

Le salon de the, Robuchon

Shop 315&401, The Landmark, Central

Looking for a light sandwich, bread or some pastries to bring back home? Here you will find everything you are looking forand you can’t go wrong with the well-known French chef Robuchon.

Eric Kayser

Harbour City, Ocean Terminal, G/F, Shop 14-15

More known for his bread and bakery skills, Eric Kayser has opened a store with a restaurant in HK. Specialized in bread and bakery products, this is the place to go if you want to bring back French breakfast home!

G/F, 74-80 Johnston Road, Wan Chai

A cute store as if you were in Paris, a huge display presents all their products from pastries to macaroons and homemade sandwiches. If you are looking for individual desserts with a nice presentation, don’t look anywhere else.

126 grammes

G/F, 42 Aberdeen Street, Soho

Dedicated to “choux a la crème” - cream puffs for the English speakers, this small store is very pretty. They offer around 10 different flavors of puffs. I have only tried the salted caramel one and the “chouquettes” and I do recommend you to stop by as soon as you can. Plus one “choux” is so small, no bad feelings about your diet after a treat!

Pierre Herme

This store is supposed to open in May this year… Still waiting for the exact location to be confirmed but once it is open; this is the only place you should buy your macaroons from!
